Argentine soccer legend Diego Maradona appears on local television variety show one day after being released from a psychiatric clinic for treatment of alcoholism. Argentine soccer legend Diego Maradona appeared on Argentine television on Monday (May 7) night, one day after being released from a clinic where he was being treated for alcoholism. Eager media and Maradona fans awaited the former soccer player's arrival at the "Ideas del Sur" studio where he was to appear on the programme "ShowMatch". "ShowMatch" is a variety style show, filled with music, dancers, and various celebrity performances. Maradona was released from the Avril Psychiatric Clinic over the weekend and spent Sunday (May 6) resting. The Argentine star has spent the better part of the past month in and out of hospitals undergoing treatment for alcoholic hepatitis and other ailments linked to excessive drinking.
