Fifth Doctor Who postponed

A fifth series of Doctor Who will be postponed until 2010, fuelling speculation about David Tennant's future with the show.It means there will be no new series in 2009 while Tennant plays Hamlet with the Royal Shakespeare Company from July to November next year.He will star in three Doctor Who specials that year instead.When asked if Tennant would be returning for a fifth series, A Doctor Who spokeswoman said: "It's too early to comment."The Cassanova actor took over from Christopher Eccleston after he quit after just one series in 2005.The fourth series, which is currently being filmed, will see Tennant with new assistant Catherine Tate, who follows on from Freema Agyeman and Billie Piper.A special Christmas episode starring Tennant and Kylie Minogue will be broadcast in December.© Independent Television News Limited 2007.
