Elizabeth I has succeeded where the Daleks failed - the Channel 4 production has killed off competition from Doctor Who to be named best TV Drama at South Bank Show Awards. Helen Mirren collected the award for her part as England's virgin queen, a role for which she's extremely proud. She said: To be recognised amongst a group of such diverse artists is a great pleasure of this particular award.' Wallace and Gromit' The Curse of the Were-Rabbit won best film, over rivals The Constant Gardener and Bullet Boy. Meanwhile Doctor Who star Billie Piper, 23, won the Times Breakthrough Award for rising British talent, for her role as the Doctor Who's sidekick Rose.
