Elizabeth queen of the South Bank

Elizabeth I has succeeded where the Daleks failed - the Channel 4 production has killed off competition from Doctor Who to be named best TV Drama at South Bank Show Awards. Helen Mirren collected the award for her part as England's virgin queen, a role for which she's extremely proud. Meanwhile Doctor Who star Billie Piper, 23, won the Times Breakthrough Award for rising British talent, for her role as the Doctor Who's sidekick Rose.
