“Faces of the Brave” About the Project Las Vegas Artist Randy Soard in cooperation with more than 450 surviving families of the fallen "Heroes" lost on September 11th, have joined together in the creation of the "Not-for-Profit" "Faces of the Brave" 9-11 Memorial Tribute Artwork Project. The "Faces of the Brave" artwork is a Photo-Mosaic comprised of the individual portraits of each of the fallen "Heroes" lost on September 11th 2001. Many of the images contained in the "Faces of the Brave" are from private family collections and have never been viewed by the public. The Purpose and Goal of the Project The Purpose of the "Faces of the Brave" 9-11 Memorial Artwork Project is to "Honor Those Who Protect Us" and to keep alive the memory of "The Best of Humanity" by putting their "Faces" before the public. The Goal of this Project is to educate and encourage the eternal vigilance of all people who cherish "Liberty" and "Freedom" to actively participate in the protection and security of our Nation. "Faces of the Brave" is a meaningful expression of heartfelt gratitude to the fallen "Heroes" of 9-11, the Uniformed Emergency Services personnel and Civilian "Heroes" and their surviving families and loved ones. After nearly five years of development work and dedicated research to secure legal permission from the surviving family members, estate administrators and other interested parties to develop this Project, the "Faces of the Brave" artwork has now been completed. Each of the individual portraits of the fallen "Heroes" shown in the "Faces of the Brave" artwork have been legally authorized by their respective estate administrators. The surviving families invited to participate represent (343 Active & 3 Retired) Firefighters (FDNY), 23 Police Officers (NYPD ESU & Patrol), 37 Port Authority Police Officers (PAPD), 16 Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT-Paramedics), 3 New York State Court Officers, 2 (1 Active & 1 Retired) FBI Agents, 1 U.S. Secret Service Agent, 42 Security Officers, 11 Civilian-Volunteer Firefighters, 7 Civilian-Volunteer Fire Marshals and 20 Civilian Heroes. The "Faces of the Brave" Artwork is not available for purchase; however, complimentary copies of the Artwork will be provided to Non-Profit Charitable Organizations (Auctions) and Volunteer Fire Departments (Fund Raisers). Corporate sponsors and private individuals will underwrite all costs associated with the reproduction, distribution and public display of the "Faces of the Brave" Artwork to the public. The Artwork will be on Public display at the following locations: Airports and Transportation Terminals, County, State & Federal Government Buildings, Court Houses, Hospitals Emergency Rooms, Medical Centers, Burn & Trauma Centers, Public Libraries, Library of Congress, Presidential Libraries, Hotels, Schools & Universities, Fire & Police Training Centers Military, Police and Fire Museums, Smithsonian Institute, Arlington National Cemetery and other public venues located in the U.S. and other countries around the world. The "Faces of the Brave" 9-11 Memorial Artwork is the only known 9-11 Memorial Tribute Artwork Project of its type to be approved and legally authorized by the surviving families and estate administrators of the fallen "Heroes" of September 11th. The "Faces of the Brave" Artwork Project has been endorsed by the Fire and Rescue Services community worldwide and is currently on display in Fire Houses and EMS facilities located in 22 countries including Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Costa Rica, China, Croatia, France, Germany, Israel, England, Monaco, Mexico, Norway, Philippines, Romania, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States and will be displayed in each of the more than 130 U.S. Embassies located around the world.
