After six excruciatingly close SEC losses, Stan Heath's Arkansas Razorbacks seemed poised to end the 2005-2006 basketball season on a low note. Sitting at 16-8, 5-6 in the SEC, the NIT seemed all but certain. But something happened - first, Arkansas played a #10 Florida team tough through overtime and won at home. The next game was an ESPN night matchup against Alabama, where the Hogs rallied from 18 down, 14 down in the second half to win on a wild shot by Brewer. The streak got going at Knoxville, as the Hogs went on a 15-point run in 4 minutes to overcome a deficit on the road against #10 Tennessee, the first top 10 team road win in a decade. Next came Modica's 3-point barrage against a hapless Mississippi State, and the regular season ended with the Hogs destroying Georgia. Arkansas' SECTourney win vs Georgia completed 6 wins in a row, giving them 22 wins, earning the first Hog NCAA bid since 2001. (more)
