Kay and Tabitha prepare ingredients for the spell to break the mermaid's hold on Fox. Unfortunately, the bizarre spell requires Fox's participation, and Kay must convince him to help without telling him the truth. Luis suspects Spike was involved with his mother's shooting, as well as Chris'. Spike returns to the burned remnants of his nightclub only to find Luis waiting for him. When Spike taunts Luis, Luis attacks him. At the Book Café, Chris freaks out when Spike demands that Chris accept a job in the Crane Industries accounting department. Spike wants Chris to steal Crane money for himself. Later, when Chris asks Sheridan to get him a job, she wonders what is really going on. Theresa leaves a message for Whitney, raving about how happy she is with Jared. Ethan overhears and is devastated. Upset, he barges into Theresa's office to discuss Julian's wishes for custody of Little Ethan. Theresa refuses to listen, insisting that Julian will not be a good role model for her son.
