Getting started

Home page

To search from the Home page, type whatever interests you in the search box and we’ll return relevant videos for you to watch.

Browse the categories thumbnail images and click one to watch videos from a particular category of content that you’re into.

Scroll down through the Home page to check out a stream of the most popular, trending videos and our top picks.

Watching videos

To watch a video on blinkx, just click its thumbnail and it’ll expand inline and begin playing. Clicking the right arrow graphic or pressing the right arrow on your keyboard will skip to the next related video. You can quit this view and return to your Stream at any time by clicking the ‘X’ located in the viewing window or pressing the ‘Esc’ key.

To navigate to a channel on blinkx, click the channel’s thumbnail logo image in the corner of a video. From the channel’s page, you can view a stream of all of its video content and add it to your Favorites.

My Stream

Meet your Stream. When you sign in to blinkx with Facebook or Twitter, we’ll give you an infinite stream of personalized video content based on your likes and interests; what you’re watching on blinkx; videos shared on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube; and what your friends are watching. View your Stream at any time by clicking the Favorites menu → ‘My Stream’, or just click the ‘blinkx’ logo in the header.

To get started, sign in with your Facebook or Twitter account.

Next, pick some video categories that interest you, such as Celebrity, Comedy and Gaming, and we’ll begin generating your Stream. You can customize your categories anytime by selecting additional ones or ditching ones you’re tired of by clicking your profile picture → ‘Settings’ → ‘Preferences’ → ‘My Stream Picks’, and then clicking the ‘Edit’ button. Remember to click ‘Done’ to save your changes. If you want to scroll through a stream of videos from one category only, just click ‘Categories’ in the header.

Connect your Facebook, Twitter and YouTube accounts to maximize your experience on blinkx. Connecting your accounts enables you to view all of your customized video content from across the Web in one place along with what your friends are watching. To connect your accounts, click your profile picture → ‘Settings’ → ‘Connected Accounts’, and then click the relevant ‘Connect’ button(s).

Favorite Videos & Favorite Channels

You can add videos to your Favorite Videos for easy viewing later and to watch similar, related ones in your Stream. To favorite a video, click the star icon on the video player.

You can also add entire video channels to your Favorites to view a channel’s content from your Stream. To favorite a channel, click on its thumbnail logo on the video player and then click the ‘Favorite’ button on its channel page.

History

When you watch a video on blinkx, we save it to your History so it’s easy to revisit videos you enjoyed watching. View your History by clicking the Favorites menu → ‘History’. To delete your History from the History page, click the ‘Clear History’ button.

See what your friends are watching

To see what your Facebook friends are watching, click to the Favorites menu in the header → ‘Facebook’. Or you can view a stream of videos shared by the accounts you follow on Twitter by clicking the Favorites menu → ‘Twitter’.

Sharing

Share a video by clicking the arrow icon located on the video player. You can post the video to Facebook and Twitter or share it via email.

Something’s not working

I can’t log in

To log in to blinkx, you need a registered Facebook or Twitter account. If you’re having trouble logging in through your existing Facebook or Twitter accounts, make sure there aren’t any typos in your login or password! If you continue having problems, recover your log in info from Facebook or Twitter directly and try again.

I want more search results

Not finding the video you’re looking for? Try some of the similar search queries that blinkx suggests as you type into the search box.

I want to change my Stream Picks

If you’re not seeing videos that interest you in your Stream, you can edit the categories that populate your stream’s videos. To edit your Stream Picks, click your profile picture → ‘Settings’ → ‘Preferences’ → ‘My Stream Picks’, and then click the ‘Edit’ button. Click ‘Done’ to save your changes.

If you just want to watch videos from a single category for a while, click ‘Categories’ in the header. Selecting a category will take you to that category’s Stream. Popular channels are featured on each category Stream page. You can view a specific channel’s Stream by clicking on any of these showcased links, or on a channel’s logo located in the lower portion of any video.

I found some bugs

We recently launched our site, and while we think it’s pretty fantastic, we’re still working out some of the kinks. We’d really appreciate if you’d point out any bugs you may find! I want to disconnect one of my accounts from blinkx

If you want to disconnect one of your accounts (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, YouTube), click your profile picture → ‘Settings’ → ‘Connected Accounts’, and then click the appropriate ‘Disconnect’ button. Disconnecting an account will remove its video content from your Stream… but we warn that using blinkx might not be as entertaining anymore!

I want to deactivate my blinkx account

You’re breaking our heart, but you can deactivate your account by clicking your profile picture → ‘Settings’ → ‘blinkx Account’, and then clicking the ‘Deactivate’ button. Just know that you can deactivate your account and come back at any time. Your account will be inactive, but we’ll keep your seat warm in case you change your mind and return - everything will be as you left it on the day you deactivated. You can re-activate your account by signing in via your same Facebook or Twitter account(s) again.

blinkx from mobile devices

The blinkx user experience is a tidbit different when you’re visiting from your mobile phone or tablet. Here’s what you should know:

Watching videos

When browsing from a mobile device, watch a video by tapping its thumbnail and pressing the ‘Play’ button.

Searching

To make a new search from a mobile device, tap on the magnifying glass icon in the header, type in your search keyword and press ‘Search’.

Disconnecting your accounts

To disconnect an account from your mobile device, tap the Favorites menu star icon in the header → ‘Settings’ gear icon → ‘Settings’ → ‘Connected Accounts’, and then tap the ‘Disconnect’ button.

Deactivating your blinkx account

You can deactivate your account from your mobile device by clicking the Favorites menu star icon in the header → clicking the ‘Settings’ gear icon → ‘Settings’ → ‘blinkx Account’, and then clicking the ‘Deactivate’ button.
