Shares in video search engine group blinkx soared 25% to 16.25p today after it launched its service on mobiles, allowing users to watch videos on sites like YouTube and iPlayer on smartphones like BlackBerrys and iPhones.

blinkx also narrowed its full-year loss for the year to April, dipping $8.9 million (£6.2 million) into the red from $9.3 million a year earlier, after advertising earnings grew and revenues rose 140% to $33.7 million.

Founder and chief executive Suranga Chandratillake said: “Our second half was nothing short of transformational.

“During a time when advertising has faced significant pressure, blinkx has consistently demonstrated robust growth.”
