blinkx has introduced its patented video search technology, Red Label, to the market. It will deploy and power the technology on customers' sites to enable them to offer video on the web service.
Red Label enables customers to incorporate rich media into their websites. blinkx says that the technology draws on 26 million hours of video content in the blinkx index.
blinkx will offer the Red Label end-to-end technology in two tiers based on the size of the portal. For larger customers blinkx will offer its services, while for the smaller ones it will be a self-service portal. Implementation of Red Label is free of charge.
Suranga Chandratillake, founder and CEO of blinkx, said: "Whether you're launching a new website, or want to integrate rich media into an existing site, blinkx Red Label delivers a complete solution for your video needs. We offer immediate, up-to-date access to the web's largest index of top quality video in addition to video search technology, with fast, easy integration."
Meanwhile, blinkx has signed a Red Label agreement with Rambler, a Russian portal. Red Label will power Rambler's video search, to provide users access to an index of over three million Russian language video clips.
Anna Znamenskaya, chief sales and partnership officer of Rambler, said: "Our users will now be able to find all their favourite Russian language clips faster and more accurately than ever before."
blinkx has recently launched an online television venture blinkx Brasil in partnership with digital media company Elo. The venture will deliver Elo's library of video content through blinkx's broadband television (BBTV) technology.
